A long time former Alaska resident, New Mexico Photographer Michael DeYoung photographs extensively for the Alaska tourism industry. He specializes in adventure, landscape, lifestyle, fitness, and travel photography for advertising, corporate and editorial clients especially for the adventure travel and tourism, outdoor gear manufacturing, and health and fitness industries. His images can be found in a variety of editorial publications and in electronic and print advertisements for our clients worldwide.
Passionate about the outdoor experience, Michael brings a sense of authenticity - often from a participants' point of view - to his imagery. He brings a broad and diverse range of creative, technical, and outdoor skills to his commercial photography. With a vast working knowledge of the West's and North's geography, weather patterns, and outdoor culture to the degree one would expect from a location photographer, he is perfectly comfortable in uncomfortable environments and in dealing with harsh conditions.
He is considered a lighting specialist - seamlessly blending artificial and natural lighting especially on location. He thrives on getting portable, studio-quality lighting into remote and beautiful locations. Simply put, he creates imagery that makes the viewer want to "be there" or "do that." The lighting in his imagery is easily one of its most distinctive characteristics. The vividly colored landscapes add a depth missing in much of outdoor location photography.
Michael and wife and business partner, Lauri, live and run their business in a sustainable home office powered 100% by solar energy.
